2018 Cannondale Habit

Wilton, Conn. – October 9, 2018 – Cannondale today launched the all-new Habit. Re-engineered and re-imagined with modern geometry, great spec and groundbreaking suspension technology, the Habit promises to maximize the fun factor on more trails, for more riders.

The new Cannondale Habit is equipped with all the must-haves of today’s trail bike – slack and capable geometry, 130mm of suspension travel, and of course 29” wheels as well as the obligatory “flip-chip” to convert to 27.5+” wheels if so desired. Big grippy tires, properly wide bars, powerful brakes, and a dropper post can be found across the Habit lineup delivering all the fun and confidence a trail rider expects. But, at the heart of the new Habit’s trail performance is an all-new suspension philosophy called Proportional Response.

“Nowadays, almost any manufacturer can meet the basic requirements of a decent bike. Most trail bikes out there today are actually pretty good,” said Peter Vallance, Cannondale’s Global Director of Product Management. “However, we knew we could deliver more with the new Habit. More control, more fun, and more efficiency for all riders.”

Cannondale’s new Proportional Response suspension design approach grew out of the brand’s research into how a rider’s center of gravity influences suspension performance. “All other bikes use the same pivot locations across their size ranges because it’s easier to design,” commented Luis Arraiz, Cannondale frame design engineer. “One-size-fits-all is not the optimal approach for suspension. A rider’s center of gravity has a big impact on how the suspension reacts to inputs like braking and pedaling. With Proportional Response, rather than simply changing the stack and reach dimensions of the frames, we’ve custom tailored the suspension pivot locations for each size bike and rider, so no one is left behind. They all get the perfect ride.”

From trail ready spec to the unique suspension design, Cannondale has tailor made the Habit for the modern trail rider. With everything needed for optimal trail performance, plus a fresh look at the fundamentals of suspension design, the Habit is truly the mountain bike for mountain bikers everywhere.

The Cannondale Habit will be available in carbon, carbon/alloy blended, and alloy models for both men and women in sizes ranging from XS – XL. Launching with the Habit is the all-new Bad Habit for those who want the crazy traction of 27.5+ tires. Bad Habit comes in both carbon and alloy models with 140mm of suspension travel in the front and 130mm of suspension travel in the rear.
